Sunrise on Athasbasca River
Nikon F5, 180mm f/2.8 AF-N, Matrix Metering, Exposure Unrecorded, E100SW Push 1 Stop, Rated at ISO 200, Handheld
I had spent a fruitless morning trying to take a dramatic image of the river and the mist when I decided to give up. After three hours, I'd given up mostly becuase my feet were numb. The temperatures were less than -35deg C. As I packed my gear in the car, I turned around and saw the sun sweeping through the bend in the river. I grabed my camera and fired off one frame without thinking about exposures, compensation, or anything. It was a grab shot. Much to my surprise, it worked out and was by far the best image of the morning.
