Desert Cottontail Hiding

Nikon D1h, 600mm f/4 AF-S, TC-14e, Matrix Metering, ISO 200, Gitzo 410, Wimberly Head, RAW Format

What we have here is a young Desert Cottontail rabbit in my backyard. While they're quite common around populated areas, they can be extremely shy. These kinds of rabbits use two kinds of defenses. First, stealth. They'll sit perfectly still at the first warning of an intruder. Second, they're made for speed. Usually in my backyard they'll run as soon as I pull out my camera. I learned to shoot out my window to keep from scaring them.
