One of the real thrills in nature photography is making portraits of cooperative subjects. Even though I may have hundreds of Big Horn Sheep images, each session is just as exciting as the first. I wanted to totally isolate this ewe's head from the background. So, the obvious solution was to pick a fairly wide aperture for the narrow DOF. I think the shot was made from about 30 feet away.
