You have to apply some sort of exposure compensation when shooting in situations that the camera companies did not envision. In most circumstances, this isn't a problem. But, with white objects against medium or dark backgrounds, this is quite an issue. In this case, the subject is realitively small against the background which required me to "pull" the exposure -0.7ev to keep the whites from becoming over-exposed.
