Snow Goose Landing

Nikon D1h, 600mm f/4 AF-S, TC-14e, Incident Metering, 1/1000sec, f/5.6, ISO 200, Gitzo 410, Wimberly Head.

At first it's hard to see how muscular birds are until you see them in the landing phase. As you see them flapping their wings, you can observe how they throw their entire bodies into the effort. Images like this seem to show their whole body as one large muscle working the wings. Obviously a lot of physical effor is being expended by this bird.
