Least Sandpipers are the smallest of the Peeps. No larger than perhaps 5 inches long, they're quite approachable. This little fellow was part of a small flock the populated a small pond on Edwards AFB. I simply layed down in their path and allowed them to approach. They approached well within the min-focus distance of my lens. Being low and moving slowly were keys to getting this closeup photo.
