In-Flight Sandhill Crane Portrait

Nikon D1h, 600mm f/4 AF-S, TC-20e, Incident Metering, 1/1250sec, f/8, ISO 200, Gitzo 410, Whimberly Head, RAW Format

This is a technically amazing shot in my humble opinion. Okay, I took it but it wasn't necessarily my skill that got the shot. Here we have a 600mm lens configured with matching 2x converter to really bring the detail. In this case, the contrast was sufficient to allow AF--not normally possible with f/8 lens.
