How to get there

The nearest major city to Jasper NP is Alberta's Provincial Capital; Edmonton. Located there are all the major anemities you'd expect in any major city throughout the world including a sizable international airport; Edmonton International Airport. Several major Canadian and US carriers provide service at reasonable costs. Flights from LAX to YEG--that's Edmonton's aviation identifier--are as low as $400 dollars U.S., quite reasonable.

The directions to Jasper are extremely easy. Follow the major road north out of the airport--HWY 2--to Edmonton, follow the signs to the Yellowhead HWY, HWY 16, to the west. Once on the Yellowhead, drive 180 miles to Jasper NP.

There are two sizable towns along the way outside of Edmonton. Hinton, the larger, is only 45 miles from Jasper NP and worth potty break and refuel before heading into the park. By the way, once at the Park's border, it's another 48 miles to Jasper Townsite and not alot of places to make a "civilized" pee along the way.
