These birds were feeding along one of the many man-made ponds located on the Southwest Corner of Edwards AFB. After getting an access letter from the base commander, the task of shooting these guys is simply the determination of waiting for the right shot. I had worked all morning trying to shoot Horned Grebe's in winter plume with little success. Upon return in the afternoon, these Sandpipers were feeding along the shore of one of the ponds. The task to shoot these guys was merely planting yourself along their path--in a prone position-- and waiting for them to walk towards you. Very simple! Sometimes all the effort pays off. |
