The Nikon D1h has a nifty focus mode that sometimes makes shooting images of quick moving birds a cinch. Instead of selecting the particular focus sensor like you do with the Nikon F5, you have the ability to tell the camera to focus on the "closest" subject under any of the sensors. This allows all the sensors to be active which makes pointing the camera extremely easy. You always seem to keep the subject in focus. There are limits to this feature but for the most part, the mode works well with subjects that have little foreground clutter. |
