This bird was incredibly cooperative and tolerate of my presence. I setup my tripod only 50 feet away from her perch and watched her scan an area not 40 feet away from my position. I knew she was zeroing in on a morning snack under the snow. Even though I was totally prepared, her leap from the tree was a shock. I finally captured her after plopping down with her feet deep in the snow. You can't see the mouse in this image but she's got one in her talons. I had enough time to shoot three images before she took off with her breakfast.

I added +0.7EV to compensate for my F5's normal underexpsure in morning light and the snow. Another +0.3EV would've been perfect.
