This group of rams were challenging each other because of the rut. Mostly they'd sniff the largest ram while he would casually much on the grass. As soon as he'd raise his head and glance towards one of these challengers, a quick head butt would result. Backlite subjects are always a challenge to photograph. The objective to retain shadow detail without blowing out the highlights can be difficult to achieve. The Nikon F5 does a great job with the exposure on neutrally colored backgrounds so no compensation is required with these situations |
